In accordance with BINUS UNIVERSITY’ motto, “Building-up the Nation’s Future by IPTEK”, BINUS UNIVERSITY consistentlyattempts to improve thequality of graduates by continuously applying the development of information technology in the curriculum and subject syllabuses without ignoring the conditions outlined by the government.

It is evident as in BINUS UNIVERSITY, courses related to computer are not only acquired in the faculty of computer science, but also in the Literature faculty, MIPA (Mathematics & Natural Science) faculty, Economic faculty, and Engineering Faculty. Besides, BINUS UNIVERSITY also works in cooperation with many parties in as well as outside the country, hence the science and technology taught are always the latest and efficiently applicable.

As an example, in 1997 was worked out a cooperation with PT. Indosat in the supply of infrastructures related to internet connection. In 1997 was also signed a cooperation with Progress and Oracle in the use of their products in BINUS UNIVERSITY environment. In 1999 was signed a cooperation with CISCO, turning BINUS UNIVERSITY as the first “Regional Networking Academy” in Indonesia. There is also a cooperation with Lotus International for the development of “illusion campus” concept.

Hal ini jelas seperti di BINUS UNIVERSITY, kursus yang berkaitan dengan komputer tidak hanya diperoleh di fakultas ilmu komputer, tetapi juga di fakultas Sastra, MIPA (Matematika & IPA) fakultas, Fakultas Ekonomi, dan Fakultas Teknik. Selain itu, BINUS UNIVERSITY juga bekerja dalam kerjasama dengan berbagai pihak dalam maupun di luar negeri, maka ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang diajarkan selalu terbaru dan efisien yang berlaku.

BINUS PERUSAHAAN Sebagai contoh, pada tahun 1997 itu bekerja di luar kerjasama dengan PT. Indosat dalam penyediaan infrastruktur yang berhubungan dengan koneksi internet. Pada tahun 1997 juga menandatangani kerjasama dengan Kemajuan dan Oracle dalam penggunaan produk mereka di lingkungan BINUS UNIVERSITY. HISTORY BINUS UNIVERSITY

BINUS UNIVERSITY was originally founded as a short-term computer training institute, Modern Computer Course, on October 21, 1974. It was the start a rapid growth and expansion, blessed with a solid foundation, clear vision, and high dedication.

Rapid growth and the people ´ s interest led to the school´s induction. Modern Computer Course had developed into ‘Akademi Teknik Komputer (ATK)’ or ‘Computer Systems Academy’ on July 1, 1981. It offered Diploma (D-3) Program in Information Management and Computer Science. Three years after, on July 13, 1984, ATK acquired "Registered" status and changed its name to ‘Akademi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer (AMIK)’ or ‘Academy of Information Management and Computer Science’ Jakarta. On July 1, 1985, AMIK Jakarta opened another Diploma Program in Computerized Accounting. On September 21, 1985, AMIK Jakarta changed its name into AMIK BINA NUSANTARA.

The growing need for highly qualified human resources in the Information Technology field motivated BINA NUSANTARA to establish ‘Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer (STMIK)’ or ‘Institute of Information Management and Computer Science’ BINA NUSANTARA on July 1, 1986. This Institute offered Undergraduate (S-1) Program in Information Management, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering.

It created a single institution offering Diploma (D-3) and Undergraduate (S-1) programs. STMIK BINA NUSANTARA achieved "Accredited" status for all its programs and levels, on March 18, 1992. Having already carved a good reputation, STMIK BINA NUSANTARA inaugurated its Master (S-2) Program in Information System Management, the first of its kind in Indonesia on May 10, 1993.

STMIK BINA NUSANTARA was then merged into BINUS UNIVERSITY on December 20, 1998. BINA NUSANTARA UNIVERSITY, at the time, has 5 Faculties: Computer Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Literature, and Mathematics & Statistics, with one Master Program.

SEJARAH BINUS UNIVERSITY
BINUS UNIVERSITY pada awalnya didirikan sebagai jangka pendek lembaga pelatihan komputer, Modern Computer Course, pada 21 Oktober 1974. Itu adalah awal pertumbuhan yang cepat dan ekspansi, diberkati dengan dasar yang kokoh, visi yang jelas, dan dedikasi yang tinggi.

Pertumbuhan yang cepat dan orang-orang 's bunga menyebabkan sekolah induksi. Kursus Komputer modern telah berkembang menjadi 'Akademi Teknik Komputer (ATK)' atau 'Computer System Akademi' pada 1 Juli 1981. Ditawarkan Diploma (D-3) Program Manajemen Informasi dan Ilmu Komputer. Tiga tahun kemudian, pada 13 Juli 1984, ATK diperoleh "Registered" status dan mengubah namanya menjadi 'Akademi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer (AMIK)' atau 'Akademi Manajemen Informatika dan Ilmu Komputer "Jakarta. Pada tanggal 1 Juli 1985, AMIK Jakarta membuka Program Diploma yang lain Computerized Accounting. Pada tanggal 21 September 1985, AMIK Jakarta berganti nama menjadi AMIK BINA NUSANTARA.

Pada 17 Maret 1986, Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, melalui Dewan Pendidikan Tinggi Distrik III diberikan AMIK BINA NUSANTARA sebagai The Best Computer Akademi, ketika masih relatif muda.
Meningkatnya kebutuhan akan sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas tinggi dalam bidang Teknologi Informasi BINA NUSANTARA termotivasi untuk mendirikan 'Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer (STMIK)' atau 'Institute of Information Management and Computer Science' BINA NUSANTARA pada tanggal 1 Juli 1986. Institut ini ditawarkan Undergraduate (S-1)

Program Manajemen Informasi, Ilmu Komputer, dan Teknik Komputer.
Pada tanggal 9 November 1987, AMIK BINA NUSANTARA digabung dengan STMIK BINA NUSANTARA. Ini menciptakan satu lembaga yang menawarkan Diploma (D-3) dan Sarjana (S-1) program. STMIK BINA NUSANTARA dicapai "Accredited" status untuk semua program dan tingkat, pada 18 Maret 1992. Setelah sudah diukir reputasi yang baik, STMIK BINA NUSANTARA dilantik para Master (S-2) Program Sistem Informasi Manajemen, yang pertama dari jenisnya di Indonesia pada 10 Mei 1993.
Sebagai langkah berikutnya untuk BINA NUSANTARA, BINUS UNIVERSITY didirikan pada 8 Agustus 1996. STMIK BINA NUSANTARA kemudian bergabung ke BINUS UNIVERSITY pada tanggal 20 Desember 1998. UNIVERSITAS BINA NUSANTARA, pada saat itu, memiliki 5 Fakultas: Ilmu Komputer, Ekonomi, Teknik, Sastra, dan Matematika & Statistik, dengan satu Program Magister.
